Softwares
When a custom tool is worth building, what an integration needs and how to pick the first version.
When it fits
Software earns its place when the business keeps working around its tools. Order details copied between systems. Spreadsheets reconciled by hand. The same status chased through three people.
A custom build is not always the answer. Sometimes a tool that already exists, or one small integration, does the job. We start from the workflow and where it gets stuck, and we replace only what needs replacing.
What can be in scope
- Internal tools
- Ordering systems, dashboards and working spaces built around the decisions your team makes every day.
- Connected workflows
- The systems you already use, joined up, so nobody copies, checks or chases the same thing twice.
- New software products
- A gap you have spotted in your market, turned into a defined product, a working first version and a plan for what follows.
What to bring
- A real example of the work
- What starts the task, who acts on it and where it ends. Include the exceptions, not just the clean path.
- The current tools
- The systems involved, what each one does and what information has to move between them.
- The cost of the workaround
- What goes wrong, what eats time and which decisions get made on bad information. A rough estimate is fine. Just tell us it is one.
Decisions worth making early
- Build, connect or configure
- Different parts of a workflow call for different answers. One good integration can beat a whole new application.
- The source of truth
- One place where an order, a customer record or a status is right. Two copies that disagree are a design fault, and we treat them as one.
- Permissions and exceptions
- Who can see what, who can change it, and what happens when a request fails, arrives twice or needs a person to step in.
How we check the work
We run the workflow with real examples, including the failures and the odd cases. A first version is done when it does what was scoped, keeps the information it handles and makes sense to the people using it.
The right tool depends on what happens before and after it. We can tie the build to your website, your customer app, your AI workflows and your security under one agreed plan.
